Academic and Support Services
Andrea Lauritzen, Academic Coordinator -- 801-626-6140
Weber State University supports student-athletes in developing as independent, self-reliant and successful young adults. The university and the athletic department encourage student-athletes to integrate, participate, and become vested members in the academic community. A supportive and instructional staff provides a broad range of programs including advising, tutoring, career planning, internships, research, and professional training.
Since you alone determine the success of your academic career, you have an obligation to yourself, the university, and the athletic department, to act in a responsible manner.
We believe student-athletes:
*Are responsible for their own behavior;
*Are successful or unsuccessful as a result of their individual goals and efforts;
*Have varied needs according to individual skills, goals, and experiences;
*Deserve dependable, accurate, respectful, honest, friendly and professional service.
Advising Program
The advising program provides broad academic guidance in response to specific and individual needs of student-athletes at Weber State University.
Academic advisors assist in:
*Understanding and complying with university and NCAA rules and requirements;
*Selecting courses and majors according to individual interest and goals;
*Resolving personal issues unique to student-athletes.
Academic Study Center
The Academic Study Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Stewart Stadium Complex.
It provides a quiet study and lounge area for student-athletes. It also houses a computer lab and is the site for Study Hall. The center is open from 8am-8pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8am-5pm on Friday. Students may receive academic advising, personal counseling, and tutoring upon request.
The area is a controlled, no food or drink environment. By using the computer lab you agree to abide by all university lab and Study Hall policies.
