WSU Women Fall to Bobcats

Ogden, UT ? An 18-7 run over the last 3: 26 of the game gave Montana State a 77-65 win over the Weber State Wildcats Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. It marked MSU's first win in Ogden since 1996.
The Bobcats held a 41-33 lead over the Wildcats at halftime and but Weber State scored the first eight points of the second half to tie the game at 41. WSU took the lead at 54-53 with 8:30 to play and the game was tied again at 59-59 with 3:26 to play. That's when MSU senior Rebecca Mercer knocked down three three-pointers over the next 2:00 to seal the Bobcat win.
Montana State improves to 8-8 overall and 3-1 in Big Sky play while the Wildcats drop to 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the league. The Wildcats have dropped their first two conference home games for the first time since 1996. MSU had lost 13 straight games in Ogden heading into Thursday's game.
The Wildcats out rebounded MSU 48-40 and out shot them 39 percent to 37 percent. But the Wildcats committed 20 turnovers, which the Bobcats turned into 20 points. WSU is 0-8 this season when they have more turnovers than their opponents and MSU had just ten.
Montana State was 8-17 from three-point land, led by Mercer who was 5-8 and finished with 17 points. Jenny Heringer posted a career-high 19 points off the bench.
For Weber State junior Janie Rayback came off the bench to lead the Wildcats with a season-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Freshman Cailtin Anderson scored 14 points for the second-straight game as WSU had 40 points off the bench. Senior Sara Tuomi posted her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Tonya Schnibbe had seven points, five rebounds, and a career-high nine assists.
Weber State will stay home this Saturday as they host defending Big Sky champion Montana at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Griz are coming off a 90-77 loss at Idaho State Thursday night that snapped a ten game losing streak.
