Second Half Run Lifts Montana Past Wildcats

Ogden, UT ? A big second half run lifted the Montana Lady Griz to a 62-53 win over the Weber State Wildcats Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center. Montana improves to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky Conference play while Weber State drops to 7-10 and 1-4.
The Wildcats held a 33-32 lead over Montana at halftime but the Lady Griz turned it on after the break. With UM leading 39-38 with 12:53 to play, Montana went on an 18-0 run over the next 7:30 minutes to take a 19 point lead and blow the game open. The Wildcats could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Weber State shot just 31 percent from the field, including just 26 percent in the second half, while the Lady Griz shot 42 percent. UM out rebounded the Wildcats 39-38 and WSU posted 15 turnovers.
Freshman Cailtin Anderson, who got her first career start in the game, led Weber State with career-highs of 19 points and ten rebounds for her first ever double-double. Anderson was 6-16 from the field, including 4-9 from three-point land.
Senior Sara Tuomi also posted a double-double, her third of the season, as she finished with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.
Montana had six players with at least seven points each.
The Wildcats have now lost seven of their last eight games and fall to 1-4 in conference play. That is their worst start in Big Sky action since 1997.
Weber State will hit the road next week when they play at Sacramento State on Thursday and at Northern Arizona on Saturday.
