Box Score

Three Wildcats scored in double figures as the Weber State women's basketball team picked up their biggest win of the season Thursday night, a 77-46 victory at Sacramento State.  The win snapped WSU's two-game losing streak and gave the ?Cats their second Big Sky win this season.

Weber State never trailed in the game and jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead on the Hornets.  The ?Cats led by 21 points and halftime and led by as many as 34 in the second half.  It marked the 16th straight win for WSU over Sacramento State.

The 77 points is a season-high for Weber State and just the second time all season they have scored over 70 points.  The 46 points allowed is also the fewest allowed by the ?Cats this season and WSU improved to 8-1 on the year when holding their opponents under 60 points.

Weber State shot 43 percent from the field and held the Hornets to 24 percent shooting, the lowest by an opponent this season.  The ?Cats also out rebounded Sacramento State 46-38 and had 20 assists in the game, compared to just five for the Hornets.

The Wildcats also knocked down 14 three-pointers in the game, going 14-34 from beyond the arc.  The 34 attempts is a school record for most attempts in a game and the 14 threes is the second most in a game in WSU history.

“We had a great team effort tonight,” said WSU head coach Carla Taylor.  “We did a lot of things really well and we had good production out of our post players which opened up our outside game and we were able to knock some shots down.”

Senior Sara Tuomi tied a season-high with 25 points and knocked down a career-high five three-pointers to lead the Wildcats.  Tuomi also pulled down ten rebounds for her third-straight double-double.

Freshman Caitlin Anderson added 15 points and also made five three-pointers.  Sophomore Ali Thorderson came off the bench to tie her career-high with 16 points and also had a career-high ten rebounds for her first career double-double.  Thorderson also made four three-pointers.

The Wildcats improve to 8-10 overall and 2-4 in Big Sky action.  They will continue their road trip this Saturday when they play at Northern Arizona.  The Lumberjacks beat Idaho State 82-67 Thursday night to also improve to 2-4 in league play.
