Wildcats Down Vikings in Big Sky Opener

Portland, Ore. -- The Weber State men's tennis team went 1-2 over the weekend, but grabbed it's opening match of the Big Sky season with a 7-0 win over Portland State on Sunday.
The Wildcats played twice on Saturday, falling in a tough 4-2 loss to Idaho before being swept 7-0 by the University of Portland.
Fabio Mancarella led the Wildcats with four wins over the weekend. He teamed with Sascha Kiehne to go 2-1 in doubles, while earning singles wins against Idaho's Timothy Hyung (6-2, 6-2) and Porltand State's Alex VanDerschelden (6-4, 4-6, 6-2).
The Wildcat doubles team of Henning Hipp and Nick Plum were also successful, matching Kiehne and Mancarella's record of 2-1.
Against the Vikings, the Wildcats rolled to a sweep. The 'Cats swept the doubles matches to earn the first point and then claimed all six singles matches, with only Mancarella's contest going three sets.
