Wildcats Fall 74-61 to Lady Griz

Four players scored in double figures as Montana rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Weber State 74-61 Thursday night in Missoula, Montana. The loss ends Weber State's three-game losing streak and drops the Wildcats to 11-13 overall and 5-7 in Big Sky Conference action.
Weber State led 31-27 at halftime but the Lady Griz started the second half on a 7-0 run. Montana led by nine points with 12:44 to play when the Wildcats went on a 19-4 run and took a 56-50 lead with 7:00 remaining. But over the next 6:00 it was all Montana as the Lady Griz had an 18-3 to blow the game open. The Wildcats scored just five points in the final seven minutes of the game.
Montana out shot Weber State 42 percent to 35percent. On thing that kept Weber State in the game was three-point shooting as the Wildcats were 10-27 from three-point land. Montana also outrebounded the ?Cats 46-28.
WSU did have nine turnovers on the night, tied for a season-low. They also had 14 assists, compared to nine for Montana.
Weber State was led by senior Sara Tuomi who finished with 21 points and five rebounds. Tuomi has now scored at least 20 points in four of the last five games. Sophomore Ali Thorderson came off the bench to add 14 points, including four three-pointers. Sophomore Tonya Schnibbe added three points and a career-high ten assists, the first Wildcat with ten assists in a game in over two years.
The Lady Griz were led by Britney Lohman who finished with 18 points. Montana stayed on top of the Big Sky standings with a 10-2 conference record.
With the loss Weber State, now 5-7 in Big Sky action remains in sixth place in the Big Sky standings with four conference games remaining. WSU will play at Montana State Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Bobcats lost 85-71 Thursday at home to Idaho State.
