LAS VEGAS -- The Weber State University men's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday as UNLV claimed a 6-1 win over the 'Cats at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Wildcats narrowly missed out on the doubles point to open the day. After Spencer Marchant and Travis Covington pulled out an 8-6 win over Bryan Miller and Andrew Giuffrida at No. 3, the Wildcats could not find another victory to earn the point. Sascha Kiehne and Fabio Mancarella fell 8-5 in the top spot, but WSU still had life at No. 2. The team of Henning Hipp and Nick Plum battled to extra games, but eventually fell 9-7 to Luca Barlocci and David Campbell.
In singles, only Nick Plum came out on top. The freshman from Texas defeated Campbell 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 to give the Wildcats their lone point on the day.
The 'Cats will return home for just their second home match of the season. WSU will face Montana State-Billings on Wednesday, Mar. 5 at 8:00 a.m. at the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club in North Salt Lake, Utah.
