WSU Sweeps Dixie State

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team won its second home match in-as-many-days with a 7-0 sweep of Dixie State College at the Ogden Athletic Club on Saturday.
The Wildcats won all three doubles matches to begin the contest. Inalise Pienaar and Ashley Schapper beat Ashley Lafeen and Brittany Roener 8-2 at No. 1. Keya Adamson and Gabriela Venditto shut-out Annie Salmon and Rebecca Wright 8-0 at No. 2, as was the case at No. 3, where Elsje Beneke and Kelli Lindley defeated Ashley Johnson and Lydia Hays.
In singles play, the Wildcats won all six matches, with only one extending to a third set. At No. 1, Venditto defeated Hays 6-0, 6-3. In the second spot, Inalise Pienaar dropped the first set 7-6, but bounced back to win 6-0 in the second and 10-6 in a tie-break third. At No. 3, Schapper downed Salmon 6-0, 6-1, while Greyce Farias defeated Wright 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4. Adamson defeated Roener 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5, and Alyssia Pyne shut-out Johnson 6-0, 6-0 in the final position.
The Wildcats improve to 5-12 on the season with the win. WSU will remain at home for the final six matches of the regular season, five of which are Big Sky contests. The home stand continues on April 5, as the Wildcats take on Idaho State at Noon.
