Wildcats Take Down Aggies 3-1

The Wildcats beat Utah State for the first time in nine years with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night in Logan, Utah. The ?Cats pulled out a 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23 victory to improve to 3-1 on the season with their third straight victory.
The Aggies won the first set 25-23, but the ?Cats came back with a strong second set where they hit .414 and never trailed. Utah State led just once after winning the first set. Despite eight ties in the fourth set, the ?Cats never trailed in the set and broke a 23-23 tie with back-to-back kills by Chelsea Bair and Amy Dunford.
The win was WSU's first over Utah State since September 1999, and dropped Utah State to 0-4 on the season.
Weber State was led by junior Micah Folsom who posted her first double-double of the season with a match-best 15 kills along with 11 kills, as well as hitting .325. Brittney Bisaillon added 13 kills and eight blocks and Bair posted 12 kills and nine digs. Junior Cailtyn Anderson led the ?Cats with 13 digs.
The Wildcats out hit Utah State .246 to .149 and had six aces on the night, three of them coming from junior Jocilyn Randall who also had 24 assists and eight digs.
Weber State, who is playing the first 11 matches of the season on the road, will now head to Waco, Texas where they will compete in four matches this weekend at the Baylor Classic. WSU will play Baylor and Rice on Friday and face San Diego State and UTSA on Saturday. The Rice match was added to the schedule Tuesday after a tournament at LSU was canceled this week due to Hurricane Gustav.
