Wildcats Drop 3-2 Match at Utah Valley

The Weber State volleyball team dropped its third straight match falling 3-2 to Utah Valley Tuesday night in Orem. The loss drops the ?Cats to 8-6 on the season after the Wolverines won the match 25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 12-25, 15-8.
After splitting the first two sets Utah Valley took a 2-1 lead with the win in the third set. But, Weber State came charging back and never trailed in the fourth set, in route to the win, their second largest win in any set this season.
But it was all Utah Valley in the deciding fifth set. The Wolverines jumped out to an 8-3 lead and the ?Cats never got closer than three points the rest of the match. It was Weber State's second five-set loss in the last three matches, after starting the season 4-0 in five-set matches.
The Wolverines had 11 more kills than Weber State and seven more digs. They also recorded 13.5 team blocks, compared to 9.5 for the Wildcats.
Junior Chelsea Bair led the Wildcats with 15 kills. She also hit .314 and recorded eight digs on the night. Bair needs just two more kills to become the tenth Wildcat in history with 1,000 career kills.
Senior Brittney Bisaillon added 11 kills and seven blocks. Leah Burmeister added nine kills and a season-high 12 digs. She also moved into fifth place on the WSU career digs list. Jenna Leggat also added nine kills and a season-high ten digs for the Wildcats. Kayli Broadbent had 23 kills to lead Utah Valley.
The Wildcats are now 0-4 all-time at Utah Valley, but are 5-0 at home. The two teams will meet again November 4 in Ogden.
Weber State will return home and get back into Big Sky Conference action when they take on Idaho State this Friday at the Swenson Gym. WSU will play the next three and five of their next six matches at home.
