Wildcats Fall to Montana 2-1

MISSOULA, Mont. -- Ari Wood gave the Weber State women's soccer team a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, but Montana responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 win over the Wildcats at South Campus Stadium on Sunday.
After a Lindsay Ortigiesen shot was blocked by a Montana defender, Wood collected the rebound and slotted a shot to the lower left corner of the net for her third tally of the season, giving WSU the early lead.
The Grizzlies responded with goals from Nawal Kirts (43rd minute) and Frankie Brady (65th minute) to grab the lead away from the Wildcats. Brandee Marone assisted on both goals.
The Wildcats outshot Montana 16 to 12 overall and 8 to 3 in shots on-goal. Grace Harris recorded seven saves to earn the win for the Grizzlies, while Rebecca Ritchie posted only a single stop in goal for the Wildcats.
Weber State dropped to 4-8-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the Big Sky Conference, while Montana improved to 3-10-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league play.
