'Cats Down Portland State, MSU Billings

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State men's tennis team won its second- and third-straight matches over the weekend with a 4-3 win over Portland State and a 7-0 sweep of Montana State-Billings at the Ogden Athletic Club. The win over PSU has the Wildcats off to a 1-0 start to the Big Sky Conference season.
Against the Vikings on Friday, the Wildcats opened the match by winning the doubles point. Sascha Kiehne and Simon Unger defeated Chris Rice and Adam Blackner 8-5 at No. 1 and Chris Williams and Spencer Marchant downed Alex Hart and Kyle Erickson 8-6 at No. 2 for the win.
In singles, WSU got wins out of Unger at No. 2, Williams at No. 4 and Travis Covington at No. 5 to split the singles matches and win the match.
On Saturday, the Wildcats grabbed another win, sweeping all three doubles and all six singles matches to defeat MSU-Billings 7-0.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Feb. 21 against Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
