WSU Drops Conference Opener

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Weber State women's tennis team dropped to 1-8 on the season after falling 5-2 to Northern Colorado as they opened up the Big Sky Conference schedule.
Elsje Beneke and Karlie Hancock scored an 8-3 win over Jennifer Whateley and Jill Kappel at the No. 3 doubles spot, but the Bears took the top two positions for the opening point.
Hancock and Beneke each also won in singles. Hancock defeated Jodi Ciarvella 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 5 position, while Beneke downed Luiza Xavier 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
Weber State will be back to the courts on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in Logan, Utah for a match against in-state rival Utah State. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
