LOGAN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team (2-8) won four of six singles matches to rally to a 4-3 win over Utah State (1-7) on Wednesday afternoon at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The win was the third-straight for the Wildcats over the in-state rival Aggies.

"This was a great win for the team," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "We played well in our last match in Colorado but came up short, but I felt like the team was starting to click and it showed today."

Greyce Farias and Keya Jenkins combined to defeat Britney Watts and Taylor Perry 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles match, but the Aggies took the top two spots to earn the opening point.

In singles play, the Wildcats won at No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 to complete the comeback. Jenkins downed Bridgette Strickland 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 position. Britiny Moore cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Perry at No. 3, while Karlie Hancock defeated Carla Limon 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5. Elsje Beneke clinched the win for the Wildcats with a rally of her own. After dropping the opening set to Watts in the No. 6 position, Beneke took the final two sets 6-3 and 6-4.

"We were disappointed to lose the doubles point but the team rallied together and played very well in singles," said Ehrlin.  "It always feels good to win after losing the doubles point. This gives us a good confidence boost for our upcoming conference match against Eastern Washington on March 6."
