WSU Drops Fourth-Straight Match

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team (2-12) dropped its fourth-straight match on Tuesday with a 6-1 loss to the University of Houston (12-2) at the Ogden Athletic Club.
"I am very pleased with the way we played in doubles, even though we lost the point," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "We can't think about this one too long, we've got some big matches coming up. Hopefully the experience we've been getting by playing tough competition this year will begin to pay off."
Houston won all three doubles matches for the opening point, although the Wildcats played well at all three spots. Elsje Beneke and Karlie Hancock played especially well, rallying from an early deficit before falling 9-7.
In singles, Houston took five of the six matches, all in straight-sets. Brittiny Moore earned the lone point for Weber State with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Alix Young in the No. 4 position.
The Wildcats will next face Portland State, Colorado State and Wyoming on consecutive days from March 27-29.
