WSU Downs Bobcats for Montana Sweep

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- The Weber State men's tennis team (8-10 overall; 4-3 Big Sky) defeated Montana State (11-9; 3-2) 5-2 on Sunday afternoon to pull complete a road sweep of the Montana schools.
The Wildcats got wins out of the bottom two doubles teams to grab the early point. Henning Hipp and Travis Covington defeated Alberto Fuentes and Corey Smith 8-4 at No. 2, while Chris Williams and Spencer Marchant downed Fletcher Keyes and Myles Perkins 8-6 at No. 3.
In singles play, the Wildcats won at the one through three spots and added a win at No. 6 to finish off the Bobcats. Sascha Kiehne defeated Smith 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 to give WSU a 2-1 lead after MSU won at No. 4 singles. Simon Unger downed Jakub Dybala 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 and Spencer Marchant defeated Esteban Ferrero 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6 to clinch the win for Weber State. Hipp, who lost the opening set 6-1 to Pawel Turzanski at No. 3, completed a come-from-behind win after taking the final two sets 6-2, 6-3.
The Wildcats will wrap up the regular season schedule on Tuesday as they face Idaho State in Pocatello. They will then head to the Big Sky Conference Championships in Sacramento, Calif., which takes place April 24-26.
