'Cats Take Down Bengals 6-1

POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Weber State men's tennis team won its third-straight Big Sky match on Tuesday with a 6-1 victory over Idaho State at Reed Gymnasium. The Wildcats moved to 9-10 overall and 5-3 in the conference with the win.
The Wildcats swept the doubles matches on the day. Sascha Kiehne and Simon Unger downed Javier Royo and Ross Dechant 8-5 at No. 1, Henning Hipp and Travis Covington defeated Alex Buceta and Dan Buckingham 8-1 at No. 2 and Spencer Marchant and Chris Williams pulled out a 9-7 win over Andres Mancero and David Kutchins at No. 3.
In singles, reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Henning Hipp got things going for the 'Cats with a 6-3, 6-2win over Dechant at No. 3. Unger's 6-3, 6-2 win over Buceta at No. 2 and Kiehne's 6-2, 7-5 win over Royo at No. 1 gave the Wildcats enough points to claim the match. Marchant soon followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Manchero at No. 5. Kutchins forfeited the No. 6 match to Covington for the Wildcats' final point.
Next up for the Wildcats will be the Big Sky Conference tournament, which will take place April 24-26 in Sacramento, Calif.
