'Cats Take 4-3 Win Over Utah State

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team (4-15) won four of six singles matches to come from behind to defeat Utah State (3-16) on Tuesday afternoon at Edman Courts.
"We really fought hard today," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "Oiur girls really demonstrated the toughness that they have developed this season. Utah State is a good matchup for us and just like earlier this season when we beat them, every point was crucial."
Keya Jenkins and Greyce Farias combined for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Monica Abella and Carla Limon, but the Aggies won at No. 1 and 3 to take the doubles point.
In singles, WSU got wins from Karlie Hancock, Brittiny Moore and Jenkins to tie the match 3-3, and Elsje Beneke earned the clinching point in the last match still in play.
Hancock dominated Limon, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, while Moore also won in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Taylor Perry at No. 4. Jenkins, who was treated for blisters in the second set, gutted out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Abella at No. 2.
After the Aggies had claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3, the match came down to the No. 6 spot, where Beneke defeated Britney Watts 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
