'Cats Drop 3-1 Match to UTSA in Hawaii

Weber State ended its trip to Hawaii with a 3-1 loss to UTSA late Saturday night in Honolulu. The Roadrunners beat the Wildcats 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 27-25 to hand WSU its seventh-straight loss.
With the loss Weber State drops to 1-9 on the season, including losing all three matches at the Honolulu Advertiser Volleyball Challenge.
WSU led the Roadrunners 14-12 midway through the first set when UTSA went on an 8-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. The 'Cats got back to within two points but UTSA held on to win the set. The Wildcats have dropped the first set in all ten matches so far this season.
The second set went back and forth most of the set. With Weber State leading 21-20 the Roadrunners scored five straight points to win the set and take a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats came out strong in the third set, jumping out to a 12-4 lead and closed the set out with four straight points to win their first set in Hawaii.
The fourth set went down to the wire. There were 18 ties and 11 lead changes in the set before the Roadrunners scored two straight points to close out the Wildcats.
Weber State had four more kills and out hit the Roadrunners in the match.
The Wildcats were led by seniors Chelsea Bair and Jenna Leggat who each recorded 16 kills, both season-highs. Leggat also added ten digs in the match and Amy Fackrell recorded ten kills. Freshman Bethany Wray added a career-high nine kills.
Weber State will open Big Sky Conference action next weekend when they play at Northern Colorado Thursday and at Northern Arizona on Saturday.
