PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Weber State women's soccer team fell to an even 4-4 on the year with a 4-0 loss to 28th-ranked Washington State on Friday afternoon. The loss was the fourth-straight for the Wildcats after they opened the season 4-0.
The Cougars jumped on the Wildcats early and often, scoring three times in the first 26 minutes. Ashley Johnson scored her first goal of the season in the 11th minute to open the scoring, redirecting a cross from Brandi Vega. Jacquelyn Roth also assisted on the play.
Kiersten Dallstream made it 2-0 in the 15th minute, as Washington State's leading scorer notched her 10th goal of the year.
In the 26th minute, Carly Dobratz put away Roth's second assist of the night as she scored from six yards out, beating Weber State goalkeeper Rebecca Ritchie high.
Dobratz was credited with the lone goal of the second half as her cross in the 69th minute deflected off a Wildcat defender into the net.
The four goals allowed by the Wildcats was a season-high, as they have not allowed more than two goals in any of the previous seven matches of the year.
Ritchie recorded three saves for the Wildcats, while Meghan Berlingo needed only two saves to earn the shutout win for Washington State. The Cougars out-shot the 'Cats 19 to 4 overall and put seven on-goal compared to two by Weber State.
Weber State will conclude its current seven-match road swing against the University of Idaho on Sunday at Noon in Moscow, Idaho. The 'Cats will then return home to face the University of Oregon on Oct. 3.
