Weber State placed five players in double figure scoring in an 87-62 Big Sky Conference win on the road at Northern Arizona on Saturday night. The win gave the Wildcats a split in the two road games this weekend. The 'Cats are now 10-7 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky Conference play. Weber State, Northern Colorado and Montana State are tied for first.  If MSU defeats Eastern Washington in tomorrow's Altitude TV game in Bozeman, the Bobcats will be in first alone at 5-1.

The Wildcats raced out to a 42-31 half time lead behind 11 points from Kyle Bullinger. It marked the first time this season that Weber State held a half time lead in a road game. The 'Cat nailed 16-30 first half shots from the floor, including 5-12 from beyond the three-point arc.

Northern Arizona came out with vengeance in the second half, going on a 10-1 scoring run in the first three minutes, pulling to within two at 43-41. Cameron Jones scored five of his 16 points during that stretch.

After the media time out,  the Wildcats got their collective thoughts together and began to slowly pull away. It began at the 15:46 mark with two free throws from guard Lindsey Hughey as the 'Cats pulled out to a 58-45 lead over the next five minutes capped by a three-pointer from Franklin Session. Northern Arizona failed to mount any kind of charge and the Wildcats pushed the lead to 73-53 with 5:16 left and cruised in for the victory.

“I was really proud of the way we responded after a tough loss on Thursday,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We got back to doing what has made us successful, sharing the ball, rebounding and playing pressure defense. To hold this team to 36 percent shooting and out rebounding them by 12 says a lot about our effort on the defensive end.”

The Wildcats got 23 bench points and 16 bench rebounds, mostly because of the play of 6-9 junior center, Trevor Morris, who scored 10 points and grabbed a career high nine rebounds in 24 minutes.

“That's the Trevor Morris we know day in and day out in practice,” said Rahe. “We gave him more time on the floor tonight and he made the best of it. He gave us some great energy off the bench.”

The Wildcats tied their season high in team assists with 20 on 31 baskets and had just 10 total turnovers in the game. WSU won the battle of the boards, 43-31, including 14 on the offensive glass.

Nick Hansen had one of his best overall games of the season, scoring 17 points and adding four rebounds, two assists, three steals and no turnovers in 24 minutes on the floor. Damian Lillard, the Big Sky's leading scorer, had 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Kyle Bullinger scored 13, Franklin Session had 11 and Morris, 10.   NAU's Cameron Dollard had 16 points. Gabe Rogers scored 13 and Nick Larson chipped in with 11.  NAU falls to 7-9 overall and 1-4 in Big Sky play.

The Wildcats now get some rest with only one game next week. The 'Cats travel to Pocatello for a Saturday, January 16 game against arch-rival Idaho State. Tip-off in Holt Arena for that game is set for 7:05 p.m. (MST).
