OGDEN, Utah -- Portland State midfielder Eryn Brown scored two goals to lead Portland State to a 3-0 win over the Weber State women's soccer team on Thursday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Brown's first tally came in the ninth minute as she took a deflected pass from Michelle Hlasnik just inside the box and slotted a shot past WSU goalkeeper Alyson Hansen to the left post.
The Wildcats missed on a pair of close opportunities in the first half as they attempted to equalize. In the 13th minute, Felicia Sortor got behind the Viking defense, but goalkeeper Lainey Hulsizer turned away her attempt. In the 41st minute, Roxy Tebbs fired a ball just outside the box that rang off the left post to again deny the Wildcats.
In the 48th minute, Toni Carnovale launched a free kick that bounced in the box. Hansen leaped and caught the ball on her second touch, but the junior keeper could not keep the ball from breaking the plane for Portland State's second goal of the match.
Brown finished off the scoring for PSU in the 52nd minute, taking a low cross from Amanda Dutra and converting on a shot from 10 yards out.
Portland State improved to 7-9-1 overall and moved to nine points in the Big Sky table on a 3-2 record. The Wildcats fell to 2-14-1 overall and 1-3-1 on the conference season.
