SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- When it rains, it pours.

Literally.

Taking to the pitch in near monsoon conditions on Sunday afternoon, the Weber State University women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sacramento State at Hornet Soccer Field.

The loss eliminated Weber State from contention for a berth in the Big Sky Conference tournament, meaning that Friday's match against Idaho State at Wildcat Soccer Field will bring down the curtain on the 2010 campaign for the Wildcats.

Sacramento State scored three times in the opening half, staking out a 1-0 lead after just five minutes after a 30-yard crossing pass skipped off the water-logged playing surface and into the net.

The Hornets made it 2-0 in the 21st minute, and then converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to make it 3-0 at halftime.

Weber State got itself on the scoreboard in the 65th minute when outside defender Alyssa Toomey, the Wildcats' only senior, hit a shot off of a corner kick.
