Big Second Half Propels Weber State Over Colorado Christian, 97-73 in Men's Home Opener

Damian Lillard scored 17 of his game high 25 points in the second half, and Lindsey Hughey scored all 14 of his points in the second half, leading the Wildcats to a 97-73 home court win over Colorado Christian. It was WSU's 2010-11 home opener.
The Wildcats led 31-30 halftime as the CCU Cougars hit 5-12 from the three-point line and finished the half on a 7-0 scoring run, giving WSU head coach Randy Rahe some halftime cause for concern.
“They did exactly what I told our kids they would do, they came in and started shooting them up from the three-point line and they made them,” said Rahe. “At half time we got some things straightened out on the defensive end and I thought we came out with a lot of energy on both ends.”
The Wildcats came out and promptly went on a 12-0 scoring run to begin the second half led by Lindsey Hughey who scored seven of those twelve points. The 'Cats began another scoring run at the 13:16 mark on a lay up from Kyle Bullinger which began an 11-2 run over the next four minutes to put WSU up 66-45 and the 'Cats pulled away for the victory.
The Wildcats got a big boost off the bench from 6-2 junior college transfer Scott Bamforth who scored 20 points hitting 6-10 from the field and 4-7 from the arc. Trevor Morris added 13 points.
Colorado Christian (0-1) was led by guard Jeff Jefferson who had 13 points, and center Austin Loeb had 12.
The Wildcats (1-1) now prepare for another instate battle, this time against the University of Utah this coming Saturday, November 20 at 4:05 p.m. at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.
