OGDEN, Utah -- The Wildcats stomped the gas and never looked back.

Sophomore guard Megan Patterson scorched the nets for a career-high 27 points, and senior forward Caitlin Anderson powered her way to a season-high 26 points as the Weber State University women's basketball team rolled to a 79-70 victory over Boise State on Saturday evening at the Dee Events Center.

Patterson knocked down a career-high seven 3-point field goals, just one off the single-game school record, including five in the first half.

Anderson knocked down 7-of-9 field goals and was 10-14 at the free-throw line, while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing off five assists.

The unsung hero of the victory, however, was junior guard Abby Palmer. Palmer played a season-high 25 minutes, taking over the point guard role for large stretches due to the injury of starting point guard Caela Mohre, and finishing with a career-high nine assists and capably handling the ball against Boise State's full-court pressure defense.

"It was a great team win," Weber State coach Carla Taylor said. "Everyone did what we needed them to do and played their roles."

Sophomore forward Mariah Metoyer added seven points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Amanda Hughes added seven points for the Wildcats, who improved to 4-5 overall and snapped a two-game losing skid.

Boise State, which entered Saturday's game at 7-3 and 3-0 vs. Big Sky Conference foes, fell to 7-4 overall, with the 42-game series between former conference rivals now standing square at 21-21.

Weber State was especially crisp in the first half, knocking down 14-of-26 shots from the field (53.8 percent). The Wildcats bolted out to an early 20-11 lead, but then slowed down as the Broncos rallied to take a 25-23 lead with 3:18 remaining first half.

Suddenly trailing, Weber State responded with a dazzling display of long-distance offense, hitting four consecutive 3-pointers to turn the two-point deficit into a 10-point lead in less than two minutes. Patterson hit three of those shots, while Anderson sank a shot from 22 feet out as just as the shot clock expired during that stretch.

The Wildcats led 38-29 at halftime and scored the first five points of the second half to push the lead to 14. Weber State led by as many as 16 multiple times during the second half before settling for the nine-point win.

Next up for Weber State is in-state rival Southern Utah on Tuesday at the Centrum Arena in Cedar City. Tipoff between the Wildcats and Thunderbirds is set for Noon.
