WSU Ends Tourney with Loss to Braves

LAS CRUCES, NM -- The Weber State softball team dropped its final game at the Troy Cox Classic on Sunday, wrapping up the New Mexico State-hosted tournament with a 5-3 loss to Bradley University.
Heather Jackson got the Wildcats going early with a leadoff home run in the first inning. The Wildcats led 1-0 going into the third inning, but the Braves scored three times in the top of the frame to snatch the lead. Bradley added another two runs in the fourth to up its lead to 5-1.
Jackson started a rally for the Wildcats in the fifth, walking with one out. After advancing to second on a groundout, Jackson was moved to third on a single by Britinie Hardine. Ariel Whiteman then drove in both players with a single to centerfield.
The Wildcats were unable to put together any more runs over the final two innings, and dropped to 0-5 after their first weekend of action.
