OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women' soccer team fell to 0-3-0 on the year Friday afternoon as they dropped a 3-0 decision to St. Mary's College (3-0-0) at Wildcat Soccer Field.
The Gaels controlled the action for the majority of the first half and out-shot the Wildcats 9-3 over the first 45 minutes. St. Mary's nearly broke through in the 30th minute, when Briana Campos's drive from outside the box struck the right post and deflected across the mouth of the goal before being cleared.
In the 53rd minute, WSU's Jessie Baddley bent a free kick around the wall and suffered the same fate as Campos, as the ball went off the right post.
The game went scoreless until the 60th minute, when Jordan Marada took a pass from Daelyn Paul in the center of the box and finished for the eventual game-winner.
The Gaels struck again 10 minutes later as Emma Kroloff took a centering pass from Caroline Shevlin and placed a ground shot to the right post.
In the 77th minute, the framework was again unkind to the Wildcats as Emily Freshman's shot to the left side of goal was deflected by St. Mary's goalkeeper Sarah Peters and then went off the outside of the post.
St. Mary's finished off the scoring in the 83rd minute as Marada tallied for the second time in the match. She intercepted a poorly cleared ball and fired a shot past WSU keeper Ryann Waldman to the right post.
Peters recorded three saves in 85 minutes of play before giving way to Natalie Powell, who finished off the clean sheet for the Gaels in goal.
Weber State will return to the pitch on Sunday, Sep. 5 as they host Washington State at Noon.
