Wildcats Drop First Two of Three Matches

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Weber State men's tennis team fell to 0-5 on the season after dropping the first two of three matches this weekend. The Wildcats opened the trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 6-1 loss to the Unviersity of Portland, before being swept 7-0 by the University of Oregon.
Against the Pilots, WSU narrowly missed earning the doubles point, falling 9-8 at No. 1 and 8-6 at No. 3. Simon Unger picked up the lone point for the 'Cats in singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Portland's top player, Bryan Thorp.
The Wildcats also lost a pair of close doubles matches against the Ducks on Saturday morning, dropping a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak loss at No. 1 and an 8-6 decision at No. 2. Oregon took all six singles matches in straight-sets.
The Wildcats have one more match on tap for the trip as they will face off against the University of Idaho on Sunday morning in Eugene, Ore.
