OGDEN, Utah - Tianna Woodhead admitted after the match that she didn't even see the ball.

It didn't matter.

The junior midfielder scored in the 82nd minute, redirecting a corner kick from Roxanne Tebbs off the back of her head and into the goal to lift the Weber State University women's soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Montana on Thursday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.

"It was a beautiful cross in from Roxy (Tebbs)," Woodhead said. "I just jumped and was able to put it in."

Woodhead's goal, her first of the 2011 season, helped the Wildcats improve to 3-0-1 in Big Sky Conference action (5-8-1 overall) and pushed WSU to the top of the league standings with 10 points.

Montana opened up the match outshooting Weber State 8-6 in the first half and had a little better of the play during the opening 45 minutes, but the Wildcats' defense was up to the task as sophomore goalkeeper Ryann Waldman made four first-half saves to keep the scoreline level at 0-0.

In typical fashion this season, Weber State came out of the halftime break reenergized and took control of the tempo and field in the second half.

The Wildcats recorded 12 shots to the Grizzlies seven, while stepping up is passing and possession.

Weber State grew more and more in control of the match as it went on and was rewarded for its efforts in the 82nd minute.

After the Wildcats won a corner kick, Tebbs floated the ball to Woodhead who jumped up and knocked the ball into the net off the back of her head to put Weber State in front by a goal.

After that it was up to the WSU defense to carry the match home.

Waldman recorded her second complete-match shutout in goal during conference play and her third of the season overall, with Weber State lowering its goals-against average to .91 after 14 matches.

The win also brought the Wildcats even in the all-time series with the Grizzlies, with the 21-match series now sitting level at 10-10-1. Weber State is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings with Montana.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., as they take on Eastern Washington (0-4-0 Big Sky, 1-11-0 overall) at Wildcat Soccer Field.
