OGDEN, Utah - The Wildcats had an early wake-up call on Saturday morning.
Unfortunately for the Weber State University women's soccer team, it missed its alarm.
Eastern Washington's Whitney Brannan had a goal and two assists as the previously winless Eagles stunned the league-leading Wildcats 3-0 at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Weber State unleashed a season-high 25 shots in the match, but couldn't get any of them past Eastern Washington goalkeeper Jamie Walker as it took its first loss in Big Sky Conference play.
Walker had 12 saves in the match as EWU defeated WSU for the third consecutive year.
The Wildcats fell to 3-1-1 (10 points) in league action, 5-9-1 overall, and had a four-match unbeaten streak snapped with the loss. The win was the Eagles' first in Big Sky play (1-4-0, 3 points) and moved them to 2-11-0 overall.
Weber State outshot the Eastern Washington 9-2 in the first half, but the Eagles made the most of their limited opportunities when Brannan went into the deep right corner after a turnover and floated the ball across the goalmouth to Cassie Black, who headed it into the center of the goal for a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats commanded play in the second half even more, but got caught pressing forward for the equalizer as Brannan again went into the corner and dished the ball off to Siara Byers for the 2-0 lead. Just 90 seconds later Brannan scored on a breakaway to complete the scoring.
WSU outshot EWU 16-5 in the second half.
Weber State currently sits at the top of the Big Sky table pending Sunday's league results, and will face Portland State on Thursday, Oct. 20 in Portland, Ore.
