Wildcats win fourth straight 74-63 over Hornets

OGDEN, Utah - Weber State closed out 2011 with its fourth straight victory, earning a 74-63 win over Sacramento State Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center, improving to 2-0 in Big Sky Conference play. 

The Wildcats never trailed in the game, in route to beating the Hornets for the seventh consecutive time.  The 'Cats led by 10 at halftime but Sacramento State cut the lead to six three minutes into the second half.  WSU responded with a 19-9 run and the lead stayed above 10 points the rest of the way.  WSU is now 18-1 all-time against Sacramento State at the Dee Events Center.

Junior Damian Lillard, the nation's leading scorer, led the Wildcats in scoring for the 11th time this season, finishing with 22 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. He was 5-12 from the field and 10-11 from the free throw line. 

Scott Bamforth added 19 points and Kyle Tresnak posted a season-high 18 points on 9-12 shooting.  Jordan Richardson led the 'Cats with six assists.    

Weber State shot 43 percent from the field and held to Hornets to 40 percent shooting.  Sacramento State outrebounded the 'Cats 37-29.  WSU had 32 points in the bench, compared to just 14 for the Hornets.    

The Wildcats improve to 10-3 overall.  They will now hit the road for two games next week playing at Eastern Washington Thursday and Portland State on Saturday.
