Wildcats Tame Eagles

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team has won two straight conference matches after beating Eastern Washington 5-2 Sunday, at the Ogden Athletic Club.
"The team played really well today, it was a team effort. We showed great composure in every match," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "Starting out the conference season 2-0 really says a lot about this young team."
The Wildcats had a clean sweep of No.1 through 3 in doubles to earn the first point of the match. Naseem Eslami and Brittiny Moore defeated Judy Liening and Nefeil Diamanti 8-3 at No. 1. Michelle Warwick and Annika Karlsen defeated Chelseas Patton and Caitlin Bampton 8-6 at No. 2 and to finish off the sweep Kristi Russell and Nittaya Phonharath defeated Helon Ricks and Rocio Norena 8-5 at No. 3.
In singles, the WIldcats continued to cruise past the Eagles as they won four of the six matches. Eslami shutout Judy Liening 6-0 in both sets at No. 1. Moore, Warwick and Phonharath each won in straight sets, with Moore defeating Bampton 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, Warwick defeating Patton 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 and Phonharath defeating Diamanti 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.
Weber State will be back in action March 4, as they take on Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
