PORTLAND, Ore -- The Weber State University women's softball team wrapped up the 2011 season with two losses to division champion Portland State on Sunday afternoon at Erv Lind Stadium.
The Wildcats fell 6-0 in the opening game and then dropped an 11-0 decision in five innings in the series' end-cap.
Weber State garnered just six total hits in the two games, with senior Britinie Hardine and freshman Brooke Silva each getting one hit in each game. Lyndsey Minnich and Kami Johnson also each got a hit.
Senior Heather Jackson, out since April 1 after a leg injury on a wild pitch, got up to bat as a pinch-hitter in the second game.
Portland State (31-16, 16-4 Pacific Coast) scored all six of its runs in the second inning of the first game.
In the second game, the Vikings again got off to a hot start with five runs in the first inning, and then added one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the game on run-rule.
Sunday's games were the final appearances for Weber State's four seniors, Hardine, Jackson, Brandi Christopher and Jessica Adler.
Weber State finished its 2011 season at 12-38 overall and 3-17 in Pacific Coast Softball Conference action. The Wildcats' 12 wins are a 10-game improvement over its 2010 season, which was the first competitive season of softball for Weber State's restarted program.
