OGDEN, Utah - With the Big Sky Conference season heading toward its final two weeks, the Wildcats are making their move.

Freshman forward Mackenzie Harrison scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, lifting the Weber State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over rival Idaho State on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.

"It's a good result for us," Weber State coach Tim Crompton said. "We had some good stretches here and there, but we can play better than we played today."

The win moves the Wildcats to 3-2-0 in Big Sky Conference play (5-9-0 overall), and leapfrogs Weber State past the Bengals into a third-place tie with defending regular season champion Northern Colorado.

It's also the Wildcats' second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season overall.
Harrison's match-winner came in the 75th minute as she broke through the Idaho State defense near the 18 after a precision free kick from freshman central defender Brecken Holbrook.

Holbrook's kick, which came about six yards behind the midfield line, came into Harrison's feet and the speedy freshman cut to her right before launching the shot from 12 yards out just inside the left post.

Idaho State's best opportunity of the match came on a counterattack, but junior goalkeeper Ryann Waldman made a strong save on the attempt after coming out after it.
Waldman finished with seven saves on the afternoon.

Weber State finished the match with 10 shots, while Idaho State had nine attempts.
Harrison led the way with a team-high 3, while freshman forward Stacy Bair and senior forward Ari Aki each had two attempts.

Holbrook's assist is her first and comes just one match after she scored her first career goal in a 1-0 win over Southern Utah last weekend.

Weber State will be back in action on the road next weekend, beginning with a Friday afternoon match against Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif. The Wildcats will also face Portland State on the road trip on Sunday afternoon. The Hornets and Vikings are currently tied for first place in the Big Sky standings with 10 points each.
