OGDEN, Utah - Getting to play at home for the first time this season turned out to be a not-so-happy homecoming for the Wildcats.
Dixie State pounded out 22 hits across two games on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader with the Weber State at Wildcat Softball Field.
The Red Storm won the first game 22-1 in five innings, pounding out 15 hits and capitalizing on five Wildcat errors. The second game of the day was much closer and more competitive, but Dixie State ultimately prevailed 4-2.
Freshman catcher Janel Cunningham was one of the few bright spots for the Wildcats in first game, going 3-of-3 at the play. Senior London Clarke added two hits.
Weber State (7-13) managed just four hits in the second game, but kept within striking distance and had the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh.
Weber State will remain home through next week when the Wildcats will take on the University of Great Falls in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 20, at Wildcat Softball Field.
