LOGAN, Utah - The Weber State University softball team dropped both ends of a twinbill against in-state rival Utah State on Wednesday afternoon at Johnson Field.

The Wildcats struggled to get timely hits with runs on base in both contests, ultimately stranding 21 baserunners in falling 7-4 and 10-3 to the Aggies.

Senior Lyndsey Minnich went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two triples and a run scored across the two games, while seniors Sarah Clark, Kami Holley, and Erika Dixon, along with freshman Janel Cunningham each had two hits.

Clark, who took the loss on the mound in the first game, extended her hitting streak to 12 consecutive games.

In the first game, Weber State led 1-0 in the first inning, but fell behind 3-1. The Wildcats tied it up at 3-3 in the fourth, but the Aggies responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and turned back WSU's rally attempts.

In the second game, the Wildcats fell behind 6-0 after two innings, but cut the deficit to 6-3 in the fifth. Utah State, however, scored four in the sixth to take the 10-3 advantage and the game was called due to darkness with two outs.

Weber State left bases loaded in the second, fourth and fifth innings, and left two on base in the first and third.

The Wildcats (16-23) return to action on Friday and Saturday for a four-game Pacific Coast series with Idaho State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday and Noon on Saturday.
