WSU Falls to Academy of Art

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Weber State women's tennis team opened up a three match road trip to the Bay Area on Thursday and suffered a 6-1 loss to nationally-ranked Division-II Academy of Art at the San Francisco Tennis Club.
Agata Bachanek and Kristi Elmer defeated Daniela Amelunge and Nina Gajdosikova 9-8 (7-4) in the No. 1 doubles match, but the Urban Knights responded with wins at No. 2 and 3 to take the doubles point.
In singles, only Elmer was able to secure a point, defeating Lucia Zavarcikova 3-6, 6-1, 4-1 as Zavarcikova retired in the third set.
Annika Karlsena and Thais Kurer each forced a third set in their singles matches, but ultimately both players took a loss.
The Wildcats will face Sonoma State on Friday and Sacramento State on Saturday.
