SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Wildcats wrapped up their fifth – and final – non-conference tournament on a positive note.

Led by a four-hit performance at the plate from senior shortstop Brooke Silva, the Weber State University softball team beat Seattle 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex, wrapping up the University of San Diego Tournament with a 4-1 record.

Silva was 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Senior right-hander/Jasmine Ioane was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the first inning, and had an RBI single, while sophomore third baseman Alyson Kulp was 2-for-4 with two double, the second of which brought a run across the plate.

Senior right-hander Kylee Colvin earned the win on the mound, improving to 3-3 with her second win of the weekend. Junior right-hander MaCauley Flint earned her second save of the weekend in relief.

Weber State charged out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Ioane's two-run shot to right center.

Seattle scored one run in each of the first four innings to keep pace with the Wildcats for a while, but Silva's RBI double in the top of the fourth pushed Kulp across with the plate for the eventual game-winning fifth run.

Ioane's RBI single in the sixth inning scored junior Brooke Boggess – who was pinch running for Silva – to make it a two run advantage, and the Wildcats closed down the Redhawks in the final two innings.

Weber State improved to 15-10 overall with the win, and will make its 2014 home debut on Wednesday against in-state rival Utah Valley in a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Wildcat Softball Complex.

Following the doubleheader with the Wolverines, Weber State will open up Big Sky Conference play on Friday at in-state rival Southern Utah.
