WSU Stays Unbeaten in Big Sky with 4-3 Win

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The Weber State men's tennis team remained atop the Big Sky Conference standings on Sunday as they pulled out a 4-3 win over Portland State at Club Green Meadows.
The Wildcats swept the doubles point to come up with what would end up being the decisive point of the match after a split of six singles matches later in the day.
Sanjay Goswami and Oliver Good took an 8-6 win over Brent Wheeler and Ian Risenhoover in the No. 1 match to finish off the doubles sweep after WSU scored 8-4 wins at No. 2 and 3 to secure the point. At No. 2, Todd Fought and James Smith defeated Kacper Stelmaszak and Alec Marx, while Landon Barlow and Caio Poitena beat Nate Chart and Wil Cochrane at No. 3.
In singles play, Fought moved into the No. 1 spot in the lineup as Jakub Gewert sat out the match to rest an injured back, and the sophomore defeated Wheeler 7-5, 6-3 for his fourth-straight singles victory.
Good earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Stelmaszak in the No. 2 match, while Barlow defeated Marx 6-3, 6-1.
The Wildcats moved their overall season record to 9-7 with the win, and they stayed perfect in the Big Sky Conference season with a 5-0 record.
