Wildcats drop home finale to Cougars

OGDEN, Utah – A hot start by the Cougars was too much for the Wildcats to overcome on Wednesday afternoon.
Facing off with in-state rival Brigham Young University, the Weber State University softball team fell behind by a trio of runs in the first inning and fell 6-1 in its final home game of the season at Wildcat Softball Complex.
Senior shortstop Brooke Silva, playing in front of a Purple and White crowd for the final time, was 2-for-3 with the Wildcats' lone RBI of the day coming on her 10th double of the year.
Junior center fielder, and lead-off hitter, Malia Campos was 1-for-2 and scored Weber State's run in the first inning on Silva's double.
The Wildcats (20-24) had an uncharacteristic four errors, with three of the Cougars' runs being unearned due to the miscues.
Senior right-hander/designated player Jasmine Ioane and senior right-hander Kylee Colvin pitched three and two innings, respectively, in the circle of their final career home games.
Weber State will wrap up its 2014 season on the road on Friday and Saturday against Portland State in Portland, Ore. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, with a second game to follow.
