NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Facing their final non-conference match of the season on the road on a scorching southern California afternoon, the Wildcats simply ran out of gas.
Despite trailing just 1-0 at halftime, the Weber State University women's soccer team fell 4-0 to CSUN on Sunday afternoon at Matador Soccer Field after the Matadors scored a trio of late goals.
The loss wrapped up the Wildcats' non-conference schedule at 3-6-0, as they now turn their attention to the Big Sky Conference season, where they enter as defending tournament champions.
CSUN (3-5-1) score in the 19th minute on a goal from Hannah Wissler to take a 1-0 lead, and despite a valiant effort from its injury-depleted lineup, Weber State was unable to equalize before the Matadors found the back of the net three times in the final 22:52 to capture the win.
Weber State will return to action on Friday as it opens the 2014 Big Sky Conference season against Montana in Missoula, Mont.
