Wildcats earn 6-1 victory over Colorado Mesa

Weber State University women's tennis team earned their first victory of the season by taking down Colorado Mesa 6-1 Saturday afternoon. Â
"The whole team played very well today and I am proud of how they came out with high intensity and focus right from the first point and finished the matches well," Head Coach Jonas Ehrlin said. "We have focused on aggressive play of the first opportunity in the point and it showed up today."Â
The Wildcats started out strong by securing the doubles point. Agata Bachanek and Kristi Elmer took down Kristyn Wykar and Rachel McLaughlin 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Freshman Dominique Beauvais and Romy Dodd-Stephens took down Natalie Martin and Kirby 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.
Bachanek took down Martin in the No. 1 single spot with scores of 6-2,6-1. Elmer took down Wykar 6-1,6-1 in the No. 2 single spot. The Wildcats continued to charge through the rest of the match. Beauvais took defeated McLaughlin 6-4, 6-1. Emily Tanner defeated Amy Beeston 6-3, 6-3. CMU's Michelle Phillps defeated Weber State's Megan Rindlisbacher r 6-4, 6-0.
The combined efforts led the Wildcats to the 6-1 victory. The Wildcats are now 1-1 on the season and will now travel to Boise, Idaho where they will take on Seattle and Boise State Jan. 31-Feb.1.
"We will keep working hard in practice this week to get ready for Boise State and Seattle next weekend," Ehrlin said.Â
