CEDAR CITY, Utah – Weber State volleyball dropped their seventh consecutive match Saturday afternoon falling in four sets to Southern Utah.

"We need learn how to put forth the proper effort mentally, physically, and emotionally," head coach Jeremiah Larsen said. "We did that in games three and four but we dug ourselves in a hole that we couldn't get out of."

The first and second sets the Wildcats struggled to find some footing. WSU only had eight kills in the first set and fell 25-11. Showing some improvement in the second set with 13 kills and only nine errors but couldn't claim the set win and fell 25-18.

The third set was the best of four for the Wildcats. Weber State jumped to an early 11-7 lead. The T-Birds didn't give up and took the lead at 15-13. With the game tied at 18-18, Andrea Hale had two back to back kills with a follow up kill by Tanisha Langston putting the Wildcats at a 21-19 lead. The game remained close but ended with a SUU error giving the Wildcats the 25-21 win. Weber State had 14 kills and only four errors for a .312 percentage in the third set.

Weber State was trailing two sets to one going into the fourth set. Southern Utah jumped to an early 8-2 lead and never looked back. The Wildcats brought the score within four but couldn't manage to take the lead and fell 25-21.

Weber State was led by Hale who had 13 kills and 42 attacks for a .167 percentage. Megan Thompson also had .167 percentage with nine kills and 24 attacks. Amanda Varley also contributed 10 kills. Thamires Cavalcanti had the game high of 16 digs but was followed closely by Samantha Staker who had 15.  Ciera Borho had 13 digs, Jesse Hover added 12. Taylor Christensen-Kinikini had a double double on the night with 35 assists and 10 digs.

Weber State is now 5-14 overall on the season and 1-7 in Big Sky Conferenc play. The Wildcats will then return home for five consecutive matches including one non-conference match against in-state rival Utah Valley.
