GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Coming into this season, redshirt junior defender Kellyn Ashby hadn't scored a goal during her two-plus seasons.

With the clock winding down in overtime, Ashby's second career goal couldn't have been more timely for the Wildcats.

Ashby scored after a scramble following redshirt junior midfielder Chansi Crompton's corner kick was deflected to her from senior forward Stacy Bair, lifting the Weber State University women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over the University of North Dakota in Big Sky Conference action on Friday evening.

Weber State (1-2-0 Big Sky, 5-6-1 overall) statistically dominated North Dakota (1-1-0 Big Sky, 3-6-1 overall), outshooting UND 32-12 (18-5 on frame), but was forced into overtime after UND scored off a corner kick with 71 seconds remaining in regulation. The 32 shots are a season high for WSU, the second consecutive match where the Wildcats have reached a season-high shot total.

Weber State opened the match with three point-blank shots inside the North Dakota six-yard box, but suddenly found itself behind in the fifth minute when a long shot from Kennedy Kidd found its way into the back of the net to give UND the 1-0 lead.

WSU continued to dominate play the rest of the half and pulled things level on a reversal of sorts, with Crompton earned her first assist of the day on a free kick to senior central defender Brecken Holbrook, with Holbrook heading the ball back just inside the near post for her first goal of the season.

The Wildcats surged ahead in the 57th minute, courtesy of senior forward Mackenzie Harrison's 21st career goal. Harrison made a tight move through traffic, and finished in the left corner to make it 2-1.

Harrison's goal tied her with Natalie (Ellis) Blaylock for third on Weber State's career scoring charts, where she currently sits four goals away from tying the school's career scoring record.

Crompton's two assists give her 19 for her career, where she needs just one more helper to tie former Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Player Rochelle Hoover for Weber State's career record.

Weber State will be back in action on Sunday when the Wildcats travel to Greeley, Colo., to face Northern Colorado. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Jackson Stadium.
