LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Weber State University softball team wrapped up its three-day stay in New Mexico on Sunday morning with a tough 6-3 defeat, coming up just short in their upset bid of undefeated Kansas at the New Mexico State Softball Complex.
Senior catch Mylee Brown went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a solo shot over the left field fence in the third inning, and senior first baseman Kylee Hogue hit a two-run blast to left center to put the Wildcats up 3-0 in the fourth.
Weber State (2-3) finished with six hits, giving the Wildcats 43 hits during the five-game tournament, but committed four errors, including three during Kansas' five-run sixth inning rally.
Freshman right-hander Bailey Seek made her second start in the circle, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts against 27 batters.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Phoenix to participate in the Grand Canyon Invitational, hosted by Grand Canyon University.
