Weber State takes down St. Mary's 6-1

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University men's tennis team took down St. Mary's College 6-1 Tuesday afternoon in a well fought match.
"St. Mary's is a very good team," Head Coach Brad Ferriera said. "We knew we had to play really well to win today and everyone came ready to fight and it showed."
The Wildcats battled in the doubles competition but couldn't quite get it together and St. Mary's swept the Wildcats in doubles play earning its single point on the match.
The Wildcat stepped up their game in the singles round of competition going unbeaten. Jakub Gewert defreated Arthur Weber in a three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles spot. Todd Fought picked up a point for the Wildcats in the No. 2 doubles spot by defeating Thomas Hunt 7-5, 6-2. Stefan Cooper defeated Samul Bloore 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Landon Barlow, Shao-Po Yin and Hou-En Chen all took down their opponents contributing to the 6-1 victory.
 "All of our pieces came together today," Ferriera said. "If we keep this up we will have a great year."
The Wildcats are now 3-3 on the season and will next travel to Sacramento State Saturday Feb. 7. Big Sky Conference play will start Sat. March 7 against Eastern Washington.
