'Cats pick up fifth consecutive Big Sky win

Weber State University men's tennis team took down its fifth consecutive Big Sky opponent defeating Montana State 4-3 Sunday afternoon.
"It was difficult to play on the road and the boys were a little tired," Head Coach Brad Ferreira said. "They showed a lot of fight today. We played very good doubles again today to start off the match on the right foot."
The Wildcats started the day off strong by earning the doubles point. The team of Sanjay Goswami and Stefan Cooper defeated Javier Martin-Morillas and Niklas Brandes 7-6 in the No. 1 spot. Hou-En "Edward" Chen and Landon Barlow defeated Dylan Haryala and Aaron Farmer 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. The No. 2 doubles match went unfinished on the day.
The singles matches were evenly split. Weber State took the No. 1 spot in a three set match with Jakub Gewert defeating Andre Napoliatano 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Barlow continued his dominating singles play by defeating Kellen Bates 7-6, 6-3. Barlow went undefeated on the weekend in both singles and doubles matches.
Chen picked up the third singles win for the Wildcats defeating Farmer 6-4, 6-3. The three singles wins and the doubles point gave the Wildcats the edge over the Bobcats for the victory.
Weber State is now 9-9 overall on the season and 5-1 in the Big Sky Conference. They will continue Big Sky play by hosting University of Idaho Saturday March 28.
