Weber State defeats Southern Utah 6-1

The Weber State men's tennis team picked up its seventh consecutive Big Sky Conference win by taking down Southern Utah 6-1 Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats came out hard in doubles, winning all three matches. Stefan Cooper and Sanjay Goswami defeated Troy Benson and Ben Spencer 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Todd Fought and Jakub Gewert defeated Taylor Wilko and Gino Digiancinto 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. Landon Barlow and Hou-en Chen finished off the doubles round with a 6-1 win over Brandon Olcott and Dario Rios.
Scott Hintze started the singles matches off with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Olcott in the No. 6 spot. Chen defeated Wilko 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot while Fought took down Spencer 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot. Shao-Po Yin also picked up a win in the No. 3 spot defeating Benson 7-5, 7-5.
Barlow remains undefeated in Big Sky play and is 15-1 overall on the season after defeating Rios 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.
SUU's lone point came in the No. 5 spot as Digiancinto defeated Dylan Hansel in a tie breaker 3-, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9).
Weber State improved to 12-9 overall and 7-1 in the Big Sky with the win and remain a top the Big Sky standings. The Wildcats will next take on Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Sunday April 12.
