LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Wildcats' winning streak is over, but their quest is not yet complete.

Facing off against the powerful hitting of No. 13 seed Louisiana to open the Lafayette Regional, the Weber State University softball team fell 11-0 to the Ragin' Cajuns at Lamson Park.

The loss ended the Purple and White's seven-game winning streak and sends them into Saturday's elimination bracket game against Mississippi State (35-20) at approximately 5 p.m. MT. The game is scheduled to be shown on ESPN.

Weber State's opener against Louisiana (40-9) which was originally scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. MT, was pushed back by more than three hours due to a rain delay during the second inning of the Regional's opening game between the Bulldogs and Baylor.

The Ragin' Cajuns allowed just one hit, a fifth-inning double down the left field line by junior first baseman Krystin Kubo, and allowed just four Wildcats to reach base.

On the other end, senior right-hander MaCauley Flint (14-8) suffered the loss in the circle. Louisiana only managed six hits, but three of those were home runs that brought multiple runs across the plate.

If Weber State (38-18) defeats Mississippi State at 6 p.m., it will face the loser of Louisiana-Baylor at approximately 8:30 p.m. That game will also be shown on ESPN.
