Wildcats fall 2-4 to Utes

SALT LAKE CITY – Weber State men's tennis took on University of Utah despite big efforts by the Wildcats the Utes came out on top with a 4-2 victory.
"We had a good chance to win this match," Director of Tennis Brad Ferreira said. "Utah is struggling with injuries but played some solid tennis. We had a good shot but did not put ourselves in a position to win."
Utah finished the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots with victories claiming the doubles point early on. The No. 3 doubles match did not finish.
In the singles competition Todd Fought played really good tennis and defeated Egbert Weverink 7-6, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Stefan Cooper also picked up a victory in singles play defeating Jamey Swiggart 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 in the No. 5 spot.
Hou-En Chen also put up a good fight against the Utes but fell to Parker Micerstci 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot.
The Wildcats now drop to 0-2 on the season. Weber State will next travel to Las Vegas Feb. 5-7 to take on UNLV, Riverside and New Mexico State before starting Big Sky Conference play Feb. 12 at home against Montana State.
